Feel the beat drive you to focus on what is in front of you, or zone out and sink into the sofa. That’s the exciting thing about music. Really, even universally accepted hits can have vastly varying personal experiences. Some people can’t help but dance, while others just tap their feet. This mixtape is all of the above for us this week. Honestly, it’s playing through for the third time in a row as I write this blog. We can’t get enough and hope you can’t either.
Pop rock throughout the last 40 years has been sprinkled by countless acts of varying degrees of popularity. But when it comes to female artists I believe the one that paved to road to what we now appreciate in the genre was Madonna. Her sound is so distinct and well crafted it’s difficult to define it to an era. While she was revolutionary in her time, she maintains her relevancy today.
Our second mixtape is inspired by the sounds from the 1950-60s popularized by the Brazillian genre of Bossa Nova. These songs weave into the past and back while still keeping with the jazzy/tropical vibe. Whether its a collection of music, art, or decor, it comes down to finding a central theme. While combining based on decades, genres, or styles, it is possible to draw on similarities that lend to a comprehensive result.

We believe a vinyl or cassette print from us at Things Unseen is the gift to give this holiday season. Okay, so it doesn’t actually play, but there’s a special meaning behind it for that special someone... There’s something about the senses that bring back memories.
Over the years, we have consumed music in varying media. The emergence of the cassette changed the entire way we listened to music. Not only was the medium more portable, but finally, there was a way to share music without loaning out your collection.
Maybe it is the fact that a proper haircut is a hot commodity these days or that we just finished binging Hart of Dixie, but we have roots on our minds here at Things Unseen Co. Or to be more exact, we are getting back to our roots here, which inspired this week's folk focused mixtape. Bob Dylan is our foundation for our folk compilation due to his massive influence in the genre.
